The Gulf Coast Leadership Project Incorporated was founded on July 22, 2014 in Gulfport, Mississippi at Galilee Missionary Baptist Church by Honorable Bobby Lee Hudson III. This organization was incorporated and registered with the state on April 9, 2015. The chartering council of members for this organization were; Angela Hudson (Co. Founder), Kaylah King (Secretary), Denise Briggs (Chief Financial Officer), Carlos Robinson (Chaplain), Leah Sims (Secretary of Relief), Amber Teague (Public Relations Officer), Willie Mae Hudson (Trustee), and Bobby Hudson (Founder/Executive Director). Under original chartering this organization was named the BLHudson Community Outreach Project, and was changed to Gulf Coast Leadership Project in November of 2015. The first general meeting session was held on October 11, 2014 at the West Side Community Center, where the original bylaws and constitution was accepted and adopted by the membership. This organization soon after chartered began extreme collaboration with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) which was constitutionally structured and approved on November 8, 2014 in Vicksburg, Mississippi at the 68th Mississippi State Conference of the NAACP. Once becoming a member of this organization members are required to join their local NAACP youth council, which was adopted on December 13, 2014. Our founder saw a need for more youth opportunities in leadership, and saw fit to start an organization in the community that promotes this objective. On December 10, 2017 the first chapters were chartered in District #1, one of them being named in honor of Trustee Emeritus Willie M Hudson as W.M. Hudson Chapter #1 for the West Harrison County area.
